The Joy, Comfort, and Stress-Reducing Power of Chakras

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

Find your inner chakra

The word chakra is a Sanskrit word that translates to “wheel” or “disk.” The 7 chakras are the main energy centers of the body that run from the base of your spine to the top of your head. These chakras receive, assimilate, and express life force energy. When we are sick or feeling emotional imbalance, it indicates that one of more of our chakras is out of balance and needs attention. There are a variety of techniques you can use to help bring your chakras into alignment, including crystals, aromatherapy, essential oils, meditation, and color therapy to name just a few.

The Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine. In this chakra, you feel grounded and stable. The root chakra represents safety, security and survival. It is associated with the color red or deep brown.

The root chakra governs our sense of security and how we perceive being grounded in our life through our physical body as well as how we relate to others emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It connects you to all other parts of yourself, allowing an understanding of your inner self and outward expression of who you are at your core level by helping you see where there may be imbalances within yourself for healing purposes before they manifest themselves physically or negatively impact those around us all around us physically throughout our day-to-day lives."

The Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is associated with the element of water, and its color is orange. This chakra is located in the lower abdomen. The power of this chakra is emotion, as it guides us through our emotions and helps us experience them fully.

If we are experiencing a lot of negative emotions, especially fear, anger or jealousy, then our sacral chakra may be out of balance. If you have ever been jealous or felt fear about losing something important to you (like if someone took your boyfriend/girlfriend), then that means that your sacral chakra needs energy work so that these feelings aren’t so intense anymore!

The biggest problem with this area is when we keep things bottled up inside ourselves and don’t talk about them — this can lead all kinds of problems later on down the road because most people won’t know what happened unless they ask questions!

The Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the area of your belly button and is associated with the element of fire.

The color of this chakra is yellow, which has been shown to increase focus and concentration. When this chakra is balanced, you will feel empowered, confident, and self-confident. You can maintain balance by eating foods that are high in protein as well as foods that are rich in vitamin B6 (the building block for serotonin). Foods like steak, salmon or tuna fish do a great job at helping maintain a healthy solar plexus chakra!

The Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is associated with the color green and the element of water. It is located in the center of your chest, close to your heart. This chakra governs love, compassion and emotional balance. You can work with this chakra when you feel disconnected from people or have difficulty expressing yourself emotionally or physically—it’s a great way to open up tight chest muscles!

The season associated with this energy center is spring—a time for renewal and growth in body and spirit.

The Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is located in the throat and associated with the color blue. The sound of this chakra is “Ahh.” This chakra is associated with speech and communication. It's associated with the element of ether, which represents space and openness, as well as Jupiter (the planet), whose energy has a long-term influence on our lives. The Throat Chakra is also related to air, meaning it's all about connecting us to other people through words and sound rather than physical touch or smell (like some other Chakras).

The Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of your forehead and represents psychic ability. The Third Eye Chakra gives you the power to see beyond what can be seen with our physical eyes, and it helps you to connect with your intuition.

The third eye chakra is associated with a color indigo. This color represents deep wisdom and intuitive knowledge that comes from within yourself.

The Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is located at the top of your head and is associated with spiritual awakening and higher consciousness.

It's also associated with the pineal gland, which produces melatonin—the hormone responsible for regulating sleep cycles.

This chakra deals with things like intuition, imagination, and creativity.

the 7 chakras are the main energy centers of the body

The word chakra means “wheel” or “disc.” These seven energy centers are located along the spine, from the base of the tailbone to the crown of your head. Each chakra is a vortex of energy that connects you to various parts of yourself and to all other people and things in your life. When any one of these areas is blocked or imbalanced, it can affect your health, relationships, and spiritual growth.

According to traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda), there are five main types of chakras:

  • The root chakra at the base of your spine

  • The sacral chakra at your lower abdomen/tailbone area

  • The solar plexus/disharmony with emotions/the power center located between chest and navel area

  • Heart openers fourth heart center behind breastbone where love resides

There are seven main energy centers in the body, known as chakras. Each of these chakras correspond to massive nerve centers in the body. In addition, these chakra points house our mental and emotional strengths. If our chakras are blocked, this can lead to illness so it’s important that you understand what each one does and how it can be healed.
